The MC4 Evo2 is designed to handle higher voltage module ratings than the Genuine MC4, addressing the higher voltage output of the new 1500 V larger commercial modules.

In response to customer requests and in order to ease dis-engaging of the MC4-Evo 2 PV connectors St?ubli ECS AG has removed the 2 protective shrouds.

Here are the details of the announcement from Staubli Company.

This announcement is about the removal of the two plastic shrouds on MC4-Evo 2 plugs. The product has received new article numbers. Both products MC4-Evo 2 with shrouds and MC4-Evo 2 w/o shrouds will both exist up until Q1/2023. By that time MC4-Evo 2 w shroulds will be phased-out. There will be a switch-over per the very customer business group to avoid product mix. The customer specific switch-over planning needs to be agreed and communicated via  St?ubli key accounts. The assembly instruction MA 298 applies to MC4-Evo 2 plugs w/o shrouds.

However, SUNKEAN still have some MC4-Evo 2 with shrouds in sotck, therefore both versions of the connectors are currently in supply. Then the MC4-Evo 2 with shrouds will be phased-out slowly in the near future.
